Decoction

(to simmer)

Method

Decoction refers to the process of simmering plant material in water or ​any other solvent, with the aim of extracting plant constituents.


  • Join the herb & solvent (e.g. plant root & cold water) in a stainless-​steel pot.
  • Bring to a boil, then Reduce heat to a simmer.
  • Cover 10-15 minutes
  • Remove from heat and Steep for another 10-15 minutes or till room ​temperature.
  • Strain into an airtight container to refrigerate for up to 72 hours or strain ​& serve.
